This year we had a capacity crowd of 97 golfers at our 5th Annual Golf Tournament. The volunteers did a great job!!! Panini lunch, acqua santa, speck and formaggio appetizer, polenta and salsiccia dinner, homemade desserts and prizes, prizes and more prizes. Who could ask for more? We look to seeing everyone again next year!!!

Winners of the tournament were the team of Lino Clauser, Javier Diaz, Mauro Brancaleoni and Oscar Diaz.
Women’s closest to the pin and longest drive winners were Brittany Leonardelli and Susan Tanel.
Men’s closest to the pin and longest drive winners were Oscar Diaz and Thomas Rigatti.

An enthusiastic crowd of over 100 Trentini gathered at the Cineplex Theatres in Vaughan to view “Fraulein – Una Fiaba D’Inverno.” This movie, which was filmed almost entirely near Renon, in Trentino, stars actor Christian De Sica, who was present at the theatre and personally presented the film. This story about an encounter between a lonely spinster and a mysterious tourist was presented in Italian with English subtitles. Afterwards, everyone gathered at the Club for a reception and snacks, and a free sampling of Roscato wine. We welcomed Daniela and Luciano Martini visiting from Revo. We wish to thank Trentini Nel Mondo for subsidizing part of the festivities, Domenic Primucci and Pizza Nova for the delicious pizzas and Cavit and Roscato for the wine and their continued support. Thank you to Alice Corazza, Lorena Danelon, Edy Angeli, Gemma Angeli, Dan Bertolini & Ivo Finotti for their help. A special thanks to the Trentin youth, Stefanie Corazza, Joseph Tanel, Mathew Danelon, Luciano Davero & Serena D’Avero, for setting up, serving and cleaning up, and the team at Italian Contemporary Film Festival for their support of Trentino. A most enjoyable evening.

The weather cooperated and the rain held off at the Festa della Repubblica at Casa Loma on June 4, 2017, providing a great day of fun with an Italian flavour. On the beautiful grounds there were Ferrari cars on display, many food tents and lots of happy people strolling the grounds at Casa Loma enjoying the entertainment and music, including a performance by Domenic Mancuso, a Juno Award Winner, husband of Tania Cologna and son-in-law of Giovanna & Sandro Cologna.

We never seem to tire of the standard Trentino meal of polenta and “crauti” and that was proven on March 25, 2017, when a full house gathered to enjoy this hardy dish accompanied by smoked
ham. Appetites were satisfied while talking and laughter filled the room. President David Corazza greeted everyone and thanked all those who prepared everything. As well, he presented our guests for the evening, Fr. Claudio Moser and Fr. Francesco Sandrin. Also present was Maestro Livio Leonardelli, who spoke a bit about the Columbus Concert Band and their upcoming concert to benefit Villa Colombo. Many excellent
volunteers worked hard to make sure everything ran smoothly and all details were taken care of, and hearfelt thanks to all of them. Of course, a note of thank you to our bartenders, Sara and Joseph, and all the ladies for their much appreciated desserts for the coffee table.

On February 10, 2017, a very successful fundraiser was held at our Club to benefit Trentino firefighters supporting earthquake victims in Italy. In spite of the bad weather, many sturdy Trentini were in attendance to support this worthwhile event. Adriano Marchetti, together with the entire Marchetti family and many volunteers, organized an enjoyable evening that included the now well-known and popular meal
of “tortei di patate,” speck, cheese and beans. In addition, there was a raffle for many great prizes, including some handcrafted cutting boards. Great food and great fun, all for a good cause. Many heartfelt thanks to Adriano and everyone in the Marchetti family for their enthusiastic hard work and generous donation of prizes and ingredients, and to the numerous volunteers who prepared, organized, served and
cleaned up, especially Giovanna and Sandro Cologna for their work in the kitchen, and Unico Foods for the donation of the cooking oils and their 100% Canadian ketchup. A note of appreciation also to our Trentino Club of Toronto and the Women’s Group for their donation. Adriano and Lucia Larentis Flaim, the Canadian Consultore for P.A.T., will ensure that the total of the fundraising effort will be sent to the Federation of Volunteer Firefighters in Trento.
