August 18th Annual Picnic at Heart Lake Conservation Area
What a picnic it was. When a Milanese chef comments that it is great polenta and actually goes up for a whole second helping you know you have it right. When an 11-year-old is over the moon after learning to fish and then catching her first three fish, when a six-year-old makes new friends and does not want to leave, when you heard all the enthusiastic zip-lining grandkids, you know it was a success! Mark your calendars now! Next year the picnic is confirmed again for the Birchview site at Heart Lake Conservation Area for July 26th, 2020. You will not want to miss this one!
We are very grateful to work of all the volunteers to make this year’s picnic a success. The challenges of working with the club under reconstruction and moving to a new picnic site cannot be underestimated. This went smoothly and this could only happen with such an incredible team. A very big thank you to all of you! A special thank you to Carlo Fillipi for donating all the sausages.
Our numbers were very strong even with the change in venue, overcast/inclement weather and the later date of the picnic. Based on ticket sales, we had 202 adults and 52 children The adult number does not include the volunteers and those that do not purchase polenta tickets, so we would estimate our attendance at between 270 and 300. An increase from last year. Thank you.
Winner of the bocce tournament was Diane Zeni and Tony Porretta. Winners of the briscola tournament were Mario Franch and Franco Franch

7th Annual Trentino Club Golf Tournament June 22, 2019
The best word to describe the success of the 7th Annual Trentino Club Golf Tournament is “spectacular.” A grand number of 130 golfers descended on the Royal Woodbine Golf Club at Highway 27 and Dixon Road, to enjoy some friendly competition, with Mother Nature providing perfect weather. Afterwards, at Casa Ricca, the hungry golfers were provided with an assortment of appetizers, followed by our famous polenta and salsicce with sugo, ribs and coleslaw. Many generous ladies provided delicious desserts. Various prizes were won during a raffle draw, as well as for some accomplishments on the golf course. We are very grateful for the dedication and many hours of work on the part of all the volunteers, in particular the organizers, Dan and Elsa Bertolini, Peter and Deborah Daldoss, the wonderful cooks Alice Corazza and Lina Daldoss, our expert polenta maker, Franca Fanti and assistant Rinaldo, Gemma & Eddy Angeli, Natalia & Franco Prevedel, Mario Franch, Franco Franch , Lorena Breda, Sarah Daldoss, Lauren Daldoss, Sarah Labarge, Jamie Bertolini and others. Particular thanks to Amo Daldoss for his expertise in the making of the salsicce. We are certain that the tremendous popularity of this event will continue and we invite one and all to our next tournament in 2020.

Polenta and Crauti Dinner March 30
The last Club dinner before closing for renovations was held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 and featured that hearty and tasty Trentino speciality – polenta with crauti and smoked meat. What better way to finish off the dinner season! As usual, a whole lot of energetic people volunteered their time and expertise to make it all happen, and we express a sincere “thank you” to Carmen & Bruno Fedrigoni, Franca Fanti, Gabriella Tanel, Gemma and Eddy, Natalia and Franco, Rinaldo Lorenzoni, Mario Franch and others. Of course, the desserts provided through the generosity of the ladies were very
much appreciated.

Gnocchi — February 23, 2019
The second dinner on February 23 featured delectable gnocchi (all homemade with loving care by our own Eddy Angeli!) with sauce, along with spinach stuffed roasts, salad and a special treat – homemade Trentino apple fritters! We wish to thank all the cooks and volunteers for their dedication and many hours of work, as well as our ever faithful bartender, Joseph Tanel, and, of course, all the ladies that brought the wonderful desserts.

Canederli — January 26, 2019
Canederli canederli what can we say …. The first two dinners of 2019 held at the Club were indeed resounding successes, due, of course to the terrific menus and the hard work of many volunteers. The first was our annual “Cloz Fest” on January 26, featuring canederli in brodo and with sausages, always a crowd favourite. We would like to thank Adriano Marchetti for providing some lovely handmade polenta “Palotte” which generated enthusiastic sales!
