August 18th Annual Picnic at Heart Lake Conservation Area
August 31, 2019 By Club Trentino
What a picnic it was. When a Milanese chef comments that it is great polenta and actually goes up for a whole second helping you know you have it right. When an 11-year-old is over the moon after learning to fish and then catching her first three fish, when a six-year-old makes new friends and does not want to leave, when you heard all the enthusiastic zip-lining grandkids, you know it was a success! Mark your calendars now! Next year the picnic is confirmed again for the Birchview site at Heart Lake Conservation Area for July 26th, 2020. You will not want to miss this one!
We are very grateful to work of all the volunteers to make this year’s picnic a success. The challenges of working with the club under reconstruction and moving to a new picnic site cannot be underestimated. This went smoothly and this could only happen with such an incredible team. A very big thank you to all of you! A special thank you to Carlo Fillipi for donating all the sausages.
Our numbers were very strong even with the change in venue, overcast/inclement weather and the later date of the picnic. Based on ticket sales, we had 202 adults and 52 children The adult number does not include the volunteers and those that do not purchase polenta tickets, so we would estimate our attendance at between 270 and 300. An increase from last year. Thank you.
Winner of the bocce tournament was Diane Zeni and Tony Porretta. Winners of the briscola tournament were Mario Franch and Franco Franch
